Soccer Teams Off to 2-1 Records in DFAL Standings!
Both the Men's and Women's Soccer Teams have rebounded from DFAL season opening loses to Dublin with wins against Miramonte and Mt. Diablo to post 2-1 records in early DFAL play. Both teams had their game against Concord rained out last week and will play against College Park on Tuesday and Campolindo on Friday.
Soccer Team Looking for a Dry Field to Play!
Several of the Acalanes Soccer games have been delayed due to the wild weather that has hit the Bay Area in the past week. The Men's team is sitting at 2-1 in league play as they have had three games postponed due to rain or poor field conditions. Games will be rescheduled following the Holiday break.
Men Win, Women Tie in Soccer Action Against Northgate!
The Men's team (3-1), resumed play Wednesday with a 2-1 win over Northgate and the Women's team (2-1-2), played to a scoreless tie. These were the first DFAL games in a while for both teams following the Holiday break and several rain-outs just before the break. Next up is Alhambra on Thursday, with the Men's team traveling, and the Women hosting 3:30pm games.
Men's Soccer Also Defeats Campolindo 1-0!
The Men's Soccer team was able to find a dry field Saturday and defeated Campolindo 1-0 on the strength of a Harlan Lopez first half goal. The Don's are now 4-1 in DFAL play and 6-3-1 overall this season. Acalanes has several games to make-up due to rain postponements and will play against Concord on Monday in a 3:30pm game.
Men's Soccer Keeps Up the Winning with 2-0 Win Over Concord
The Don's Men's Soccer team has won four league games in a row after losing in their DFAL opener to Dublin. Again, the team shutout their opponent, this time Concord High by a 2-0 margin. Harlan Lopez opened the scoring in the first half, and Riad Alameddine added an insurance goal in the second half for the Don's who are 7-3-1 overall this season.
Acalanes Soccer Teams Both Tie Las Lomas!
Both the Women's and Men's Soccer teams played Las Lomas even on Wednesday with 1-1 ties as the result. Christine Brast tied the game for the Women's team and they pounded the Las Lomas goalie with scoring chances, but settled for the 1-1 tie to go to 3-1-3 in DFAL play. In the Men's game, Tarek Alameddine was the Don's goal scorer in a evenly played game against one of the top DFAL teams. The Men now stand 5-1-1 and are currently third in the DFAL with two games less played than the teams above them.
Men's Soccer Continues Unbeaten Streak With Tie Against Dublin
After starting the season with a loss to Dublin, the Men's team has not tasted defeat since, going 5-0-2 to remain in the hunt for the DFAL crown. The Don's out shot Dublin 7-2 but could not breakthrough with the go ahead goal. The next big test will come next Wednesday, January 22 with a trip to Miramonte (7-2-1) whom has led the DFAL since the beginning of the season. Game time is 3:30pm for this big match-up. Men's Soccer Takes Home 2-0 Win From Miramonte, Women Win Too!
In one of the bigger games so far this season, Acalanes continued their unbeaten streak with a 2-0 at Miramonte to remain in the hunt for the DFAL crown. The win moved the Don's to 6-1-2 and trails the two teams above them only because they have played less games. Raid Alameddine and Justin Klueger scored for the Don's and David Allen and Dan Dicksen stared in goal for the Don's whom were out shot 12-6.
Call it a sweep as the Women's team moved into fourth place in the DFAL standings with a 4-2 win against Miramonte at home. The team is 6-4-5 and got scoring from four different players to remain in the NCS playoff picture. Read the game summary from the Contra Costa Times dated 1/22 here.
Men's and Women's Soccer Have Easy Time with Mt. Diablo!
Both Don's Soccer teams had an easy time of it against a much weaker school in Mt. Diablo on Friday in DFAL action with both teams coming away with lopsided wins that featured scoring from a variety of players. The Men won 8-1 as seven different players converted goals for the Don's including two scored from Jeremy Chan for the Dons'.
In the Women's game, the Don's got scoring from seven different players in their 7-1 win. Rachel Resneck, Erin Nelson, Roxy Croze, Dierdra Sanders, Jessica Zestar-Postik, Lauren Tomei, and Lizzie Masland all converted in the win. The team is now 5-2-4 in the DFAL standings. They will play next at Concord on Wednesday, 1/29 at 3:30pm.
Men's Soccer Team To Host College Park Saturday!
The Men's Soccer Team has a few rain-out games to makeup and play one of them on Saturday at Acalanes starting at 1:00pm. The 7-1-2 Don's trails only Las Lomas (8-1-3) in the DFAL standing and can make up more ground today with a win against College Park. Come out and support our team.
Men's Soccer Wins By Shutout Over College Park 4-0!
The Men's Soccer Team made up ground in the DFAL standings in a convincing way Saturday with a 4-0 win over College Park at Acalanes. Ryan Callahan, Ketto Desalles, Scott Arnold and Riad Alameddine scored for the Don's who moved to within one point of first place the DFAL standings behind Las Lomas.

Acalanes also played a non-league game Monday at De Anza High and came away with a 4-2 win. The Don's overall record this year moves to 11-3-3.
Men's Soccer Ties Concord, Women Roll to 5-0 Win!
The Don's Men's Soccer team played to a scoreless tie against Concord on Wednesday to remain in the DFAL title picture. Goaltender Dan Dickson made five saves for the 8-1-3 Don's. In the Women's game, Lauren Zuckerman has a three-goal hat trick as she led the Don's to an impressive 5-0 win. The Women's team is currently in fourth place in the DFAL standings behind Dublin, College Park and Campolindo.
Dons' Soccer Goaltenders are the Sun's "Star's of the
Week"!
Men's Soccer is in the hunt for the DFAL title and beyond and one reason has been the strong goal keeping of both Dan Dickson and David Allen whom were selected by the Contra Costa Sun as the Stars of the Week on 1/29. The duo earned this honor for their performance in the 2-0 win over Miramonte. Read the story from the Contra Costa Sun dated 1/29 here.
Women Tie, Men Win 1-0 in Soccer Against College Park!
In the defensive minded-DFAL, scoring was hard to come by on Friday as both Acalanes teams shutout their opponents, but only one team gained the win. The Women's team finished with 0-0 score while playing College Park at Acalanes, and the Men came away with the 1-0 win on the strength of a goal by Tarek Alameddine in a game played at Diablo Valley College. With the win, the Acalanes Men (9-1-3) moved into a first place tie with Las Lomas (9-2-3) in the DFAL standings. The Women are still in the hunt with a 6-3-5 record, all alone in fourth place in the DFAL.

Men's Soccer in DFAL Lead After 2-1 Win Over Campolindo!
Acalanes (10-1-3) moved into sole possession of first place in the DFAL with their 2-1 home win over Campolindo on Wednesday. Harlan Lopez and Justin Klueger scored for the Don's who lead Miramonte (10-4-1) by two points and Las Lomas (9-3-3) by three points. The loss for the Don's came in the DFAL opener against Dublin and have not lost in 13 games since.
Men's Soccer is Tied on Late Penalty Kick, Win Saturday 5-0!
Acalanes (10-1-4) remained in first place in the DFAL with a tie against Northgate Friday afternoon in a game that they believe they should have won. Northgate (7-6-3) is in the middle of the pack in the DFAL and the Don's would normally control the game and had the lead late when Northgate scored on a penalty kick to tie the score at the 67th minute. Justin Klueger scored both goals for Acalanes.
On Saturday, Acalanes made up another rain-out game with an easy 5-0 win over Alhmabra to further extend their lead in the DFAL. Riad Alameddine scored twice and Tarek Alameddine; Justin Klueger and Greg Mathy scored once in the victory that pushed Acalanes four points ahead of Las Lomas in the tight DFAL standings. The Don's held Alhambra to only three shots resulting in the shutout.
Soccer Teams Take Two from Alhambra!
The Men's Soccer Team recorded their second consecutive shutout with a 4-0 win Wednesday over Alhambra to distance themselves even further from second-place Las Lomas in the battle for the DFAL crown. The 12-1-4 Men's team has not lost since their opening day loss to Dublin and seemed headed for the DFAL title with only a few games left in the schedule.
The Women's team again tied their opponent in Alhambra by a 2-2 final. Acalanes leads the league with six ties and remains in fifth place in the standings. The young Women's team (7-4-6) has only lost four games, but with so many ties, it may have a difficult time reaching a NCS berth.
Don's Men's Soccer Takes DFAL Title Despite Loss!
The Acalanes Varsity Men's Soccer Team claimed the DFAL Soccer title despite a season finale loss to Las Lomas Friday at Acalanes. The 3-1 loss kept the Don's one-point ahead of second-place Las Lomas in final standings and rewarded the Don's for a great season as they head for the NCS playoffs once again. The loss was only the second of the season for the Don's who earlier tied Las Lomas in their first match played on January 15th.
Credit Coach Paul Curtis for keeping his team focused throughout the season that saw several games rained-out and rescheduled again and again. Once the team had played all of their make-up games, they were sitting a top the DFAL standings with enough points to clinch the title regardless of the outcome of their finale against Las Lomas. Congratulations on a great season and good luck in the NCS playoffs which begins next week.

Acalanes Men Play Miramonte in NCS Soccer Playoffs Saturday!
The Acalanes Men's Soccer team will play DFAL rival Miramonte in the first round of the NCS playoffs beginning next Saturday, February 22 at Miramonte. Acalanes is the #1 seed and Miramonte is ranked 8th. The game time is 7:00pm.
Read the Preview Story from the Contra Costa Times dated 2/19 here.
Don's Soccer Season Ends with NCS First Round Loses!
Update: The Acalanes Soccer season came to an end more quickly than expected as both the Men's and Women's teams lost their respective first round NCS playoff games. A late goal by 2nd-seeded Bishop O' Dowd broke a 1-1 tie to end the Women's season and the Men were upset by Miramonte Saturday night in Moraga. The Men were the #1 seed and had beaten Miramonte twice this year in DFAL play, but could not complete the hat trick on Mats home surface. Acalanes had chosen to play their "home" game on the new surface at Miramonte who perhaps benefited from playing on the familiar surroundings in the surprising 2-1 win. More information will be provided when available. Congratulations to both of our Don's teams on their successful seasons. Read the game story on the Women's game from the Contra Costa Times dated 2/23 here.
Tarek Alameddine is DFAL Offensive Player of the Year!
The Don's placed no less than seven players on this year's All-DFAL teams including picking up the Leagues Top Offensive player in Senior Tarek Alameddine. Tarek was joined on the team by his brother Riad who was a 2nd-team honoree. See below for the complete list. Congratulations to our Soccer team and our Senior All-League performers.
