Women Water Polo Splits Games in Reno Tournament!
The Don's Women's Water Polo won their games on Friday but lost both on Saturday in the Silver State Shootout tournament this past weekend. The Don's Taylor Stern scored nine of the teams 13-goals on Friday but missed the Saturday games to attend a relatives wedding. See the game results below.

Women's Water Polo Drops Two Games in Sierra Shootout Tournament Friday!
The Don's suffered two loses in early pool play on Friday in the Sierra Shootout Tournament. Acalanes lost to Clovis by a 6-4 margin and to Drake High by a 12-5 final. See the game results below.

Men Water Polo Hangs on to Defeat Las Lomas 10-9 in DFAL Opener!
Despite a valiant comeback effort by Las Lomas in the 4th-quarter, the Don's Men's Water Polo Team hung on for a 10-9 win in their DFAL opener on Wednesday. Nick Ferrif scored 5 goals, Jake Norton 3 goals, and Steve Andron 2 goals for the Don's in their win. Robert Graves had 5 saves for Acalanes. The Women's Team lost their game by a 9-5 final. Men Water Polo Crushes Northgate in DFAL Match 17-10, Women Lose by 10-1 Final!
Acalanes moved to 2-0 in DFAL with their lopsided 17-10 win over Northgate on Wednesday. The Don's spread out the scoring as ten players were able to find the back of the net.

Don's Water Polo Teams Come Up Short Against Miramonte on Wednesday!
Despite a strong effort, the Men' Water Polo team came up one-goal short in their key match-up with Miramonte on Wednesday in a 8-7 loss. The Women's team dropped their game 14-4 despite a three-goal game from Taylor Stern. In the Men's game, Miramonte overcame a one-goal deficit at the half and held off a valiant Don's attempt to tie the game late when the Don's hit the goal post several times. Steve Andron and Dino Sulprizio scored 2 goals each and Robert Graves had 9 saves for the Men's team. Read the game summary and see the results below.

Women's Water Polo Team Still Looking for First DFAL Win!
The Don's young Women's Water Polo team is in a building year and is looking to improve as the season goes on. Yesterday they ran into the DFAL's top team in College Park (4-0) and came away with a 12-4 loss. Claire Pelpel, Shannon Pegnim, Kate Warner, and Taylor Stern scored goals for the Don's.

Men's Water Polo Team Takes Two Games in Acalanes Tournament on Friday!
The Don's got scoring from several players in their combined wins Friday against Campolindo and Berkeley as they took the first two matches in the Acalanes Tournament. Bryan Schnugg had four goals and Paul Burgin scored three in their win over Campo, and Steve Andron added three scores in the win over Berkeley. The Tournament continues Saturday at Acalanes. See the games results below. The Don's Women's team was defeated by College Park 9-2 Friday at the Western States tournament in Modesto.

Men's Water Polo Defeats Concord in a Huge Way, Women Win First DFAL Match!
The Men's Water Polo team moved to 4-1 in DFAL play with a convincing win over Concord High on Wednesday by a 20-2 final score. It was a sweep for the Don's as the Women's team picked-up their first DFAL win with a 14-0 score. The Don's had an opportunity to play some of the non-regulars in the win and picked-up five goals from Joey Seroy and three more from Brendon Whitmore. For the Women's team that has been in a building year, the win was their first of the year and it came in a shutout rout. See the results below.

Strong First Half Yields Another Win for 5-1 Men's Water Polo, Women Lose 9-4!
The Men's Water Polo team continues their strong year with a 13-8 victory over Alhambra on Wednesday while the Women's team dropped their match 9-4. The Men remain in second place with a 5-1 record, tied with Campolindo. Paul Burgin led the Don's attack with five goals in the match. Acalanes will travel to Campolindo next Tuesday for a 6:00pm game to determine the two and three positions in the DFAL standings in their league finale. The Women fell to 1-5 in their rebuilding year.

Don's Men's Water Polo Team Finishes DFAL Season on Strong Note with Win over
Campo!!
The Don's Men's Water Polo team completed their DFAL schedule with yet another impressive win, this time over Lamorinda rival Campolindo by a 10-6 final score. The Don's finished in second place with a 6-1 record, one loss back of undefeated Miramonte. Their showing in league play should yield a high pool pick in the upcoming NCS playoffs. Nick Ferrif had a great day scoring four of Acalanes goals and Bryan Schnugg collected three scores himself. Robert Graves and Drew Robinson combined for eight saves. The Don's Women's team completed their league season as well. The Lady Don's fell 8-2 to finish their league play with a 1-6 record in their rebuilding year. Shannon Pegman and Mandy Sheehan collected the goals for the Women's team.

In what was a rebuilding year for the Women's Water Polo program, one bright spot was the play of Taylor Stern who was recognized with a second team All-DFAL selection. Congratulations to Taylor!

Don's Team's Dominate in NCS Water Polo First Round Action!
Both the Acalanes Women and Men's Water Polo teams advanced to the NCS second-round following convincing wins in the first-round on Saturday. The Women got things started with their win over Washington High by a 9-2 final featuring a four-goal game by Nicole Hughes and two goals by Kelly Jenkins-Stark. Alissa Skuce had ten saves and Anni Poth one save for Acalanes. In the Men's game, Steve Andron and Nick Ferrif each scored three goals to help them to a 14-4 win over Marin Catholic. Phil Jones helped the Don's with eight saves in the game. Both team will play Tuesday in the second-round, but the Women will be without one of their standouts Jenna Lambert who was lost for the season with a shoulder injury on Thursday. Water Polo's Nicole Hughes is Co-MVP in DFAL, Five Others Make All-DFAL!
Senior Nicole Hughes, the offensive leader for Acalanes all season was honored as the Co-MVP of the DFAL in their recently announced All-DFAL team. Hughes shares the honor with fellow senior Diana Pivicek from Campolindo. The Don's added five players to the team with Kelly Jenkins-Stark making the first team and Alissa Skuke, Jenna Lambert, Michelle Roses and Leigha Winters making the second team. Congratulations to all six ladies on a great season.

The Don's Women's Water Polo team landed two players to the All-East Bay/North bay Water Polo Teams. Nicole Hughes was selected to the First Team and Kelly Jenkins-Stark was selected to the Third team respectively. Congrats to these fine student/athletes.
