AND THEY ARE THE NORTH COAST SECTION CHAMPIONS!
The Boys Soccer team battled a very good Bishop ODowd HS team to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation and a 0-0 tie after overtime.
It came down to the shootout. Rueben Komisar, Nate Sonnenthal, and Coleman Ruffin scored only to be equaled by ODowds first three shooters. Sasha Chalak scored to set up Logan Spittlers dramatic save that allowed Nic Carrillo the opportunity to score on the last shot to clinch the shootout 5-3, and make the Acalanes Boys Soccer team the 2009 North Coast Section Champions. Congratulations!!!

DFAL Champion Dons Soccer team advances to NCS Finals in Shootout Victory over Piedmont
In the NCS Boys Soccer Semifinals two very good teams, Acalanes HS and Piedmont HS battled it out to a 1-1 tie after regulation, and a 1-1 tie after overtime to set up the shoot out. During the game, Superfreshman Dylan Autran scored the lone goal assisted by Sasha Chalak and Logan Spittler had 6 saves
At the shootout:
Ruben Komisar, Nate Sonnenthal, Nick Pereira, and Sasha Chalak had scores that were answered by three Piedmont players to tie the shootout at 3-3. Then, Logan Spittler made a fantastic save to set up Nic Carrillo for the winning score to give Acalanes the 5-3 shootout victory.

Boys Soccer Team is through to the Semifinals with a 1-0 over HaywardThe Dons broke a scoreless tie just 3 minutes before the end of regulation play. The scoring play was the result of a free kick taken by Sasha Chalak. Logan Spittler held of the Hayward efforts to score with 8 saves.
The Dons hosts Piedmont on Wednesday, Feb 25 at 7:00pm in an NCS Semifinal. Come and support the team.

First Place Dons Boys Soccer Plays To A 2-2 Draw At Campolindo
Acalanes Boys Soccer team jumped on the Cougars early and had a 2-1 lead going into the second half.
Scoring for the Dons were Sasha Chalek at the 2 minute mark and Nick Kelly , assisted by Sasha Chalek, at the 39 minute mark. Logan Spittler and Scott McArthur, the Dons goalkeepers, were credited with 2 and 1 saves respectively.
NCS Seedings will be determined this Sunday.

Dons Boys Soccer Team Clinches DFAL Title
After Senior Day activities the Boys Soccer team scored a 1-0 victory over Dublin that clinched the DFAL title with one league game left to play. Brett Cantrell scored the lone goal of the match in the second half assisted by Nate Sonnenthal.
Logan Spittler helped preserve the shutout with 5 saves.
Presenting Seniors 2009: Sasha Chalek, Simon Eva, Peter Jernigan, Jaime Kelleher, Nick Kelly, Reuban Komisar, Nick Manning, Scott McArthur, Coleman Ruffin, Adam Separack, Nate Sonnenthal .
The seeding for the NCS playoffs will take place on Sunday, Feb 15. In the meanwhile the team has a rivalry game to play at Campo on Friday the 13th.

League Leading Boys Soccer Rolls Over Dougherty Valley 6-2
The Dons scored 3 first half goals but gave up 2 in the process. Tightening down their defense in the second half, the Dons score 3 more times but did not allow anymore goals by Dougherty Valley.
Scoring for the Dons included Shasa Chalak with 2 goals, and single goals by Nate Sonnenthal, Nic Carrillo, Cameron Carda, Brett Cantrell. Assisting on the Dons goals were David Kloth, Ruben Komisar, Shasa Chalak, Nic Carrillo
The Dons are 7-1-2 in DFAL and 13-4-3 overall.

Dons Boys Soccer Team Continues Excellent Season with 1-0 win over Ygnacio Valley
The First Place Dons improved their overall record to 12-4-3 with this nonleague victory. Scoring for the Dons was Ruben Kosimar assisted by Chris Conrad.

Varsity Dons Soccer beats Alhambra 1-0
In a match that was constantly interrupted by official whistles for fouls that lengthened the match and prevented either team from establishing a rythm, the Dons were able to prevail on a free kick from one of those fouls. Scoring for the Dons was Nate Sonnenthal. Logan Spittler preserved the shutout and was credited with two saves.
The Varsity Dons record in DFAL is now 6-1-2 and 11-4-3 overall.

Boys Socccer stays on top with 2-1 win over Los Lomas
The Boys Soccer team continued its succesful DFAL campaign with a 2-1 away victory at Los Lomas. The Dons went ahead on a penalty kick in the first half by Shasa Chalek and then were tied by Los Lomas via another penalty kick. Sasha Chalek then scored an unassisted goal late in the second half to give the Dons their victory.The Boys Soccer team's DFAL record is now 5-1-1 and 9-4-2 overall.

After a scoreless first half, Peter Jernigan , assisted by Nic Carillo, scored the only goal of the match in the second half for the Dons. Logan Spittler kept the shutout with 4 credited saves.

The Boys Varsity 2-0 victory brings their record to 7-3-2 and DFAL record to 3-1-1. All of the scoring for the Dons occurred in the first half with goals by Peter Jernigan, assisted by Adam Seperack and an unassisted goal by Sasha Chalak. Logan Spittler was credited with 4 saves for the Dons.

Scoring for the Dons were Nate Sonnenthal with 2 and Brett Cantrell with 1. Assisting on the goals were Sasha Chalak and David Kloth.
Logan Spittler recorded 2 saves for Acalanes.
