Boys Basketball bows out of NCS
The Boys Varsity basketball team's season came to an end in the second round of the NCS playoffs with a 55-40 loss at El Cerrito. Carlo Valsecchi led the team with 8 points and 9 rebounds, and Corey Collins and Zach Bloom each scored 7. Tyler Caldwell led the team in rebounds with 12.

Boys Basketball Wins First Round NCS game
Corey Collins led four Dons in double figures, scoring 17 points, as Acalanes beat Drake 63-50 in the first round of the NCS playoffs.
Jay Fowler added 13, Zach Bloom had 10, and Carlo Valsecchi had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Tyler Caldwell was the rebounding leader with 13, and he also had 3 steals, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.The team will play at El Cerrito in the second round on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball earns #5 seed in NCS and will host #12 Sir Francis Drake on Tuesday at 7:30pm

Boys Varsity finishes DFAL season with 9-3 record after 53-44 win over Dougherty Valley
The Dons slow start, trailing 9-12 after the first quarter, was completely erased by outscoring Dougherty Valley 20-9 in the second quarter. Highlights for the Dons included Zach Bloom 14 points, Jay Fowler and Corey Collins with 12 points each, Tyler Caldwell with 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 points, and Michael Jackson with 7 rebounds.

The Boys Varsity basketball team fell behind early, and never really recovered in a 76-52 loss to Miramonte on Tuesday night.
Corey Collins led all scorers with 16 points, while Carlo Valsecchi added 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Boys Basketball sweeps season series with Alhambra
The Boys Varsity basketball team had three players score in double figures as they swept the season series with Alhambra 56-50. Jay Fowler led the way with 17 points, while Zach Bloom had 11, and Corey Collins added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Pete Wignall (7 rebounds) and Stephen Collins (2 3-pointers) had very strong games off the bench.

In a battle for first place in league, the Boys Varsity basketball team lost at Campolindo 57-40. It was a close game until mid-way through the second quarter, as the Cougars built a ten point lead. Another strong fourth quarter by the boys varsity basketball team sealed their win (55-51) over Las Lomas at home on Tuesday night. Jay Fowler hit a clutch three pointer with 20 seconds left in the game to seal the win. Corey Collins led the team with 16 points, while Zach Bloom had 13, and Fowler had 12. Carlo Valsecchi led the way with 10 rebounds, and Tyler Caldwell had 9 rebounds.

Boys Basketball works overtime for win
It took overtime but the host Dons put away Dublin with a 9-3 run in the extra period for a final score of 71-65. Leading the way for the Dons were Corey Collins with 24 points, 3 3-pointers, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, Jay Fowler 14 points, with 3 3-pointers, Zach Bloom 13 points, with 3 3-pointers, and Pete Wignall contributed 9 rebounds and 4 points.
JV Boys Basketball beats Dublin
On Friday the team played a strong bounce back game taking an 18-9 first quarter lead and a 29-18 halftime lead before winning 53-47 to go to 5-2 in league and 14-6 on the year. The team effort was lead by Kevin Huber who had 17 points and 2 assists and James Griffin who had 16 points, 6 rebounds, and assist and steal. Also filling the stats box were Max O誰eill with 9 points and 5 rebounds, Jonathan Coleman with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal, and Ben Weintraub who had 5 points, 2 blocks, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists

Dons Boys Basketball improves to 5-1 in DFAL with win over Dougherty Valley
The Dons broke open what had been a close game with a 26-8 4th quarter that led to a 71-57 win over Dougherty Valley. Corey Collins led all scorers with a season-high 30 points. Tyler Caldwell added 10 points and 7 rebounds, while Carlo Valsecchi had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Zach Bloom contributed 6 assists, 3 steals along with 8 points.
At the halfway point of the league, Acalanes is 5-1, and in second place.
JV Boys fall to Dougherty Valley in basketball
The team had a rough time dealing with the quickness of Daugherty Valley on Wednesday and fell behind 14-4 after the first quarter. The team played well in the second and third quarter to close the gap to 37-33, but turnovers took the tool in a final score loss of 53-44. Highlights include Max O誰eill scoring 16 points and contributing 12 rebounds, James Griffin had 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, and Trevor Masland kicked in 8 points(2 three pointers) and 9 rebounds

Fast start propels Varsity Boys Basketball to win over Miramonte
The Dons showed they were ready to play by outscoring the Mats 16-4 in the first quarter and then spent the rest of the game successfully holding off any comeback attempt by the Matts for a 60-54 win. For the Dons Michael Jackson scored 11 points (on 5-5 shooting) and had 10 rebounds. Zach Bloom scored 16 points with 1 3-pointer. Corey Collins scored 14 points with 1 3-pointer. Jay Fowler scored 9 points and had 8 assists and Tyler Caldwell contributed 10 rebounds.
The JV Boys basketball team goes overtime to beat Miramonte
The JV Boys' team had an exciting overtime win over rival Miramonte with a back and forth game that was 8-7 after the first quarter, 18-18 at half, 30-29 after the third quarter and 41-41 at the end of regulation before the Dons won 51-48 in overtime. Highlights included a breakout game for Max O誰eill who had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Jonathan Coleman with 13 points and 8 rebounds with a block and an assist, 8 points from Trevor Masland who made 2 three pointers to go with 5 rebounds and a block, and James Griffin had 6 points and 11 rebounds
Freshman Boys Basketball rallies from half time deficit for 47-29 win over Miramonte
Monday night the Boys Freshman basketball team played Miramonte at home. The game's lead went back and forth with a halftime score of Acalanes 23, Miramonte 24. But the Dons came out ready to fight and dominated the Matadors, holding them to only 5 points in the second half. Leading the way were Aaron Edwards 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, Ivan Howard 8 points and 7 rebounds, Clark Evans and Brendan Kirbach 3 assists 2 steals and a blocked shot ( each).
The team had a season high 10 assists, and is now 9-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Boys Varsity Basketball beats Alhambra 69-55 (video highlights on Sports video clip page)
The Dons and Alhambra Bulldogs played a very close first quarter with only 1 point separating the teams. The Dons stretched that lead to 5 by half-time and then came out and put away the game in the third quarter where they outscored the Bulldogs 24-13. With this win the Dons moved to 3-1 in the DFAL.
Highlights for the Dons inlcuded Carlo Valsecchi's double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds) as well as 3 blocks. Jay Fowler and Zach Bloom score 12 points each, and Matt McGoldrick had his season high with 11 points and 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
The JV Boys Basketball team had a bounce back game against Alhambra.
The boys jumped out to a 22-7 first quarter lead and won easily. The team was paced by Kevin Huber with 18 points including 5 three pointers, Jonathan Coleman with 12 points including 2 three pointers and he also had 2 steals, Ben Weintraub had 11 points, James Griffin 9 points and 7 rebounds, and Max ONeill had 6 rebounds.

The Dons were outscored by the Cougars by 5 points in both the first and second quarter and could not make up that difference in the second half. Leading the way for the Dons were Zach Bloom with 18 points, Jay Fowler 11 points, Corey Collins 9 points and Tyler Caldwell 6 points and 10 rebounds.
The JV Boys Basketball team had a tough game against Campolindo.
Centers Max ONeill and Brandan Zegarowski were fighting the flu, and Steven Wemple was out with a concussion. The remaining boys were lead by Kevin Huber with 14 points, James Griffin with 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Jonathan Coleman with 11 points. The final score was 56-44 with the Don痴 taking their first league loss
The Freshman Boys Basketball lost a hard fought battle with Campolindo
The Freshman Dons led 24-21 at halftime but could not maintain that lead and lost 49-43. Aaron Edwards led the team scoring with10 points, Tyler Supple and Craig Anderson each had 6 points. Six other boys contributed to the score as well. Ryan Myers led the team on the defensive side with 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Brendan Kirbach helped the team with 3 assists.

Boys Varsity Basketball moves to 2-0 in DFAL play with exciting win over Las Lomas
Corey Collins scored 16 points (4 3-pointers) to lead 4 players in double figures as the Boys Varsity basketball team moved to 2-0 in league with a 63-59 win at Las Lomas. Zach Bloom and Jay Fowler both scored 12 points (2 3-pointers each) and Fowler was credited with 6 rebounds, 8 assists. Tyler Caldwell added 10 points and 8 rebounds, Carlo Valsecchi with 9 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and Michael Jackson sank two key free-throws with one second left on the clock to secure the win.JV Boys Basketball team works overtime for win
The second league game was at Los Lomas and was a close game throughout with the score tied 26 at halftime, and 52 at the end of regulation. The Dons prevailed in overtime with strong defense and six points from Ben Weintraub winning 60-55. The team had balanced scoring with James Griffin contributing 15, Kevin Huber 12, Ben Weintraub 12, Max O誰eil 9 and 8 rebounds and 3 block shots, Jon Coleman 8, and Trevor Masland 4.

The visiting Dons built a 5 point first quarter lead and finished with a 69-58 win over host Dublin. Highlights for the Dons include: Tyler Caldwell with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots. Carlo Valsecchi scored 12 points, and Corey Collins 10 points. The Acalanes JV Boys Basketball team has a 9 and 4 record in pre league games. They lost in the championship game of the Ferreboeff Memorial Tournament at San Marin High in Novato to Monte Vista, and in the championship game of the John Rhodes Tournament held on campus to San Ramon. The team has had balanced scoring, lead by James Griffon, Kevin Huber and Jonathan Coleman in the past three games. The league games begin Tuesday at Dublin

Boys Basketball Takes Third at the Sonoma County Classic
Jay Fowler scored 17 points, including two clutch free throws in the last minute of the game, to lead Acalanes to a 61-56 win over Cloverdale for Third Place in the Sonoma County Classic. Corey Collins added 11 points, Zach Bloom had 9, and Trevor Mooney had 8. the Dons made 8 three-pointers to help win this game.

Boys Basketball loses to Analy in overtime following a bizarre ending in regulation time
Corey Collins scored 16 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, but it wasn't quite enough as Acalanes fell to Analy 67-65 in the second round of the Sonoma County Classic. On a controversial call, the Dons were whistled for a foul with no time left on the clock, allowing Analy to hit a free throw to send the game into overtime.
